Trouble using the smooth function

I am trying to block average this data using the smooth function.

My variable is a double with dimensions,

size(data) = 1x168766

test = smooth(data,25)

It gives no error but the variable test is the same size as the original unsmoothed data.

I'm guessing this is a simple issue but I can't understand why it's not working as I have used it successfully before..

According to the documentation, smooth is a moving average filter. Then the output has the same size as the inputs. Why do you expect anything else?
