Loading image into GUI

Hi
I am new to matlab. please help me urgently. I have design an GUI and wrote following code to load an image.
% Browse for the image file.
[baseFileName, folder] = uigetfile('*.*', 'Specify an image file');
% Create the full file name.
fullImageFileName = fullfile(folder, baseFileName);
im_dis=imread(fullImageFileName);
axes(handles.axes1);
image(im_dis);
Now i need to use uploaded image which is stored in im_dis with other button function. how can i call that image.
please Help me..
