how to extract data based upon latitude longitude value form a matrix file

I have a .mat file which contains data of Aerosol parameters. I want to write a code that would extract data from the mat file by giving a particular latitude and longitude value. I am a begineer in MATLAB. Please help me out

I downloaded hdf file from MISR database, ASDC. I was given a code that would retrieve values from the hdf file and create a mat file for the same. This file has been created from the program in MATLAB hdf2mat_MISR
