Remote Desktop causes low level graphics error (R2018a)
Afficher commentaires plus anciens
I always set OPENGL rendering to 'hardwarebasic'
>> opengl hardwarebasic
at the start of all my Matlab sessions and it usually works fine. When I connect to the same machine using Remote Desktop, however (with the Matlab session already open there), I always obtain a low level graphics error when doing a graphics rendering operation,
MATLAB has experienced a low-level graphics error, and may not have drawn correctly.
Read about what you can do to prevent this issue at Resolving Low-Level Graphics Issues then restart MATLAB.

whereafter all image rendering looks very crude. The link provided in the error message has nothing to say about Remote Desktop.
What is it about Remote Desktop that interferes with OPENGL? Is there some RDP setting that would cure this?

I believe if you use OPENGL HW it is specific for the monitor that connects to the PC graphic card, where as Remote Destop, the graphic rendering must not be used with HW.
From my experience, there is also different quality where is your MATLAB is opened after or before Remote Session is opened; on both cases the OpenGL switch to SW.
In any case it is not the same quality with HW OpenGL.
