Function generation from x and y data

I want to generate a function which can fit the curve. 1st column of excel sheet is x data and the 2nd column of excel sheet is y data. Now I have to generate a function which will fit my curve, and I can write something like y= x^2.

If you have the curve fitting toolbox you could use cftool to explore your options. Otherwise polyfit will allow you to fit a polynomial, and many other tools are available for other functions.

What is your actual question? What have you tried? Where did you get stuck? What errors have you been getting?
