how to interface a digital camera with MATLAB for real time image processing

i am working on a project and i want to use digital camera for taking images and processing them. Like whenever i need a picture i call a function snap and it gives me image to process. i am using MATLAB R2010a.

Two possible approaches come to mind:
- BeagleBoard support from Simulink (Take images from a webcam connected to a BeagleBoard or PandaBoard running a Simulink model.)
- Image Acquisition Toolbox
