Multiple instances of component in App designer

I'm creating a multi panel app in app designer and would like to have instances of controls on each panel that share the same value, so for example, if you change the value on a slider on panel 1 and then switch over to panel 2, you'll see a slider with the same name and value. Tying 2 components to the same callback doesn't seem to do it (or at least I haven't been able to make it work). Any tips?
