Is MATLAB's GUI good for designing an application or should one interface with JAVA?

I want to create a window based application in MATLAB.ALL my code is in MATLAB as there is lot of data-processing and plotting.BUT i want to make it user-friendly by creting a good GUI.ALSO i want to create a query system.Should i use MATLAB or JAVA.If JAVA how can i interface it with MATLAB?
