R2017b くらいのドキュメンテーションに存在を発見しましたがいかがでしょうか。
MATLAB の歴史を紐解くのは難易度が高いと思いますが、ドキュメンテーションのアーカイブも見れるみたいですので、こちらから過去のバージョンの情報を探し出すと良いと思います。
