set image as background

Hi guys, I am wondering how can I set an saved 'png' image as the background of the x-y plane in hist3 (3D histogram) function, so that the image is stretched to fit the x and y axis. any helps will be highly appreciated! thanks

thanks for commenting, this seems put the image as the whole background, but what I try to achieve is only putting it as the x-y plane background in a 3-d axis system
