Smooth (not found, should be a basic answer)

Hello,
I'm working with the student version of MATLAB R2012a, I am still new to the world of MATLAB so this may seem very basic. Right now I have a macro that deals with the "smooth" function. Here's part of the code in the macro:
g=fy(:,2);
sg=smooth(g); %5 point moving average
The %5 portion is a comment, not actual code. I am getting an error of:
Undefined function 'smooth' for input arguments of type 'double'.
The macros I have work fine on the lab computers at my university but they have a bunch of different toolboxes installed. What toolbox has this function so I can buy it and put it on my personal computer? If it's not in a toolbox, where do I obtain it?
Thank you,

Maybe it's this official MATLAB function: http://www.mathworks.com/help/curvefit/smooth.html in the Curve Fitting Toolbox. Or maybe it's something that some one custom wrote but is not included on your computer for some reason.

I will download a trial of the Curve Fitting Toolbox. However, I do know for a fact that it is not custom code written for this. The overall code is custom but it uses functions that are built into MATLAB, there wasn't a custom written smooth function. The macros were copied directly from my lab computer to my notebook with the same file directory setup. Everything works fine, just not when the code implements the smooth function. I was hoping to determine if the smooth function should be built into MATLAB, if it isn't in the student version, and/or if it requires the purchase of a specific toolbox. The main issue is that the computers on campus have quite a few toolboxes installed, I don't know which ones but there are at least a dozen.
Thank you for the assistance.

When you are in the lab next time, you can type "edit smooth.m" and see what is opened in the editor. The path should tell you if it is indeed part of the curve fitting toolbox, or something custom.

The CurveFitting toolbox is not included as part of the Student Version license; you would need to obtain a license for it.

Paul, type "ver" at the command prompt to list all the toolboxes that you are able to use.
And:
which -all smooth
