can anyone help me with code to detect part of signal cord vertebral

I wish to detect region of interest of spinal cord MRI image. Also to detect the centre of disk.

@Josh have you tried using the Image processing toolbox http://www.mathworks.com/products/image/ ? It has some object detection functionality.

Also, like @Ashvin pointed out, it helps to be specific to get best use from MATLAB Answers.
