what is the purpose of this code?

net.trainParam.perf = 'sse';

I search a lot through the internet. I read about Epochs, show, showcommandline, showWindow, goal, time, min_grad, max_fail, sigma, lambda. But I don't get "perf".

Please help me to understand this.
