Can I use "To Workspace" block in SIMULINK if I am generating .exe ?

I am using "To Workspace" block in SIMULINK to send out the outputs to MATLAB workspace. The variables which are sent as an array to MATLAB Workspace are read from MATLAB GUI code. If I am creating executable for both SIMULINK and GUI, can I send and receive variables to MATLAB Workspace? Will it work?
