Description
The Ansys Maxwell software enables accurate low-frequency electromagnetic field simulation for a wide range of electromechanical systems. Engineers use Maxwell to design and validate motors, transformers, actuators, sensors, wireless charging systems, and more. With high-fidelity 2D and 3D modeling, Maxwell captures both static and dynamic field behaviors, allowing for detailed performance predictions under real-world operating conditions.
Maxwell’s finite element analysis (FEA) solvers support magnetostatic, electrostatic, AC magnetic, and transient simulations. Seamless integration with the broader Ansys suite enables coupled multiphysics modeling—spanning thermal, structural, and system-level domains. Users can perform parameter sweeps, design space exploration, and optimization directly within automated workflows. Reduced-order models and high-efficiency computation help engineers scale their simulations for electric machines, transformers, and mechatronic systems in industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, and manufacturing.
Maxwell supports direct export of electromagnetic parameters into Simscape™. For example, flux linkage data from an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) can be exported as MATLAB® readable text files. Similarly, flux and loss data from an externally excited synchronous motor (EESM) can be exported as MAT files. These are compatible with the FEM-Parameterized Synchronous Machine block in Simscape, enabling detailed integration with MATLAB and Simulink® products.
