DuoMAG TMS Toolbox

Toolbox for the control of the DuoMAG TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) systems

Highlights

  • Toolbox enables real-time, external control of DuoMAG™ systems
  • Integrate TMS control into experimental control scripts
  • Suitable for online and closed-loop applications

Description

The DuoMAG™ family of neuromodulation devices use magnetic brain stimulation to enhance or suppress activity of the brain and nervous system to research neurological function and disease. DuoMAG products support several methods, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), paired pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (ppTMS), and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS).

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) can be used to measure the activity and function of specific brain circuits in humans. The most robust and widely accepted use is in measuring the connection between the primary motor cortex and a particular muscle to evaluate damage from stroke, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, movement disorders, motor neuron disease, and injuries and other disorders affecting the facial and other cranial nerves and the spinal cord.

All DuoMAG TMS systems feature a durable, robust design with high-energy stimulation output, high repetition rate, and multiple control options including coil handle, computer interface, and external triggering. They have modular expansion options, support external communications via TTL in/out and USB, and include a wide range of circular, focal figure-8, and cone-shaped coils.

The DuoMAG TMS Toolbox provides a method of controlling your DuoMAG TMS system directly from MATLAB®, without the need to change parameters on the system's own interface. This makes integration with other devices, techniques, and experimental conditions easier to achieve. For example, measurements taken from an imaging system, such as an electroencephalogram (EEG), could be imported and interpreted in your MATLAB script, which would then also decide when and which type of TMS stimulus to deliver, using the DuoMAG TMS Toolbox.
