Create Bridges

Learn how to create bridges in RoadRunner interactive editing software.

Hello this is John, and today we're going to be taking a look at creating bridges in RoadRunner. To get started, I'm going to place two roads and create a simple intersection. Again, doing this by right clicking, right clicking to create these roads.
And by default if two roads cross in RoadRunner, it will create an intersection. In this case that's not what we want. What I'll do, is left click on this road and then move over to the 2D Editor. This controls the height profile of the road. Since this is going to be a bridge, I'm simply going to left click and drag this up.
As you notice, as this gets higher, it removes the intersection because these roads no longer cross. I'm going to set the elevation of this by clicking on this span and setting the altitude to be six meters. Next I'm going to switch over to the road construction tool.
With this road selected, I'm going to right click to place the extents of my bridge. I'm going to left click on this new span that I've created and mark it as a bridge. If you now pan down, you can see that there is a bridge created underneath that span.
To fully demonstrate this, I'm going to switch over to the surface tool and right click to create a simple patch of grass around my scene. You now see that the grass comes up to meet the bottom of this bridge. Finally, I'm going to switch over to my posts folder here and drag in a round bridge post. Place one roughly there and there.
Great. That's how you create bridges in RoadRunner. Thank you for watching.
