How do I open a file in a choosen application from within MATLAB?

I would like to specify the application that opens the file when using WINOPEN.

The ability to choose the application that opens the input file of the function WINOPEN is not available in MATLAB.
To work around this issue, choose the application that opens the file in Windows:
1. Right click on the file in Windows Explorer.
2. Under Properties-> General, choose the application that you would like to open file with.
3. Use the WINOPEN function to open the file.
