This bug has been fixed for Release 14 (R14). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:

This problem has been fixed in version 3.1 (R12.1) of the Image Processing Toolbox.

If you are using R12, please avoid running multiple CPSELECT Tools in one MATLAB session. If you run into the following error message:

 Java exception occurred: 

 java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

 at com.mathworks.mwt.message.MWLooper.start(Compiled Code)

Please quit MATLAB and restart it.
