Simple I/O between MATLAB and TIC6748

Hello,

I am looking for a step-by-step tutorial in interfacing MATLAB with a Texas Instruments TMS320C6748 Development board. Simply, I would like to send a double precision number from MATLAB to the board, perform some simple algorithms on-board, then send the result back to MATLAB.

All of the examples I have come across are very specific in using Simulink. I already have all of my algorithms converted to c-code but don't know where to start in the interfacing process!
