Matlab 2013a versus 2012b (Speed Issue)

I have a long simulation which I wrote while using Matlab 2012b. I run it on a more powerful linux system which has 2013a version installed. My issue is that when I test the code on my laptop, it runs in 15-17 secs while the same code take ~27-39 secs on the linux machine using 2013a. I run on the linux machine using -nojvm which should, i believe, increase the performance. The computer specs are:
My Laptop: Intel i5, 2.4 GHz, 6 GB Ram
The Linux Machine: Intel 3.2 GHz, 16 Gb Ram
What am I missing here? Is somehow 2013a slower than 2012b or do I need to make changes to the code for running the code on 2013a?

Hi Amit
can you specify your processors model numbers in details for each machine?

  • how did bench rank your machines?
My R2013a on an old vanilla desktop has a remarkable high performance on ODE compared to the top ranking machine, which has a Linux 64bit system.
