How can I display characters with more than 7 bits ?

Does anybody know how can I display in matlab characters more than 7- bits Ascii code? Thanks in advance

A lot depends on where you want to display them. As characters in the command line gives you the greatest flexibility. As characters in some kinds of uicontrol gives you some option that are workable but not fun. As characters in text() objects (including labels and annotations) is restricted to what you can get from TeX or Latex, such as Greek characters.
