How to get a rectangular sliding window around a pixel?

I am new to matlab and I would really appreciate any help!

I want to implement a rectangular sliding window around a pixel and perform some operations on it. Can someone help me do the rectangular sliding window part?

What do you want to do? How about imfilter() or conv2() for simple linear filters. If you want nonlinear filters (basically any custom operations that you can think of, you can use nlfilter(). Attached is an example of nlfilter() to take the variance in a local sliding window.
