How do I activate MATLAB (student version)

I am stuck on Step 1 of the activation process. The text box where the Serial Number is entered only allows 20 digits. The Serial Number that came with my DVD is 25 digits long. What do I do?

Please contact Install (Tech) Support to request a new serial number.

Note: this issue affects only a few, isolated MATLAB Student Version DVD kits that were purchased at bookstores in the past.

I have a Matlab student version R2009a. I was used the program without any problem. Some days ago I had some problems with my computer and I need to format the HD.

I need to reinstall and activate Matlab but I get the following error:

Error -1.002: The e-mail address you entered is associated with a non-student MathWorks account and may not be reused for student purchases. Either create a new account by providing a different e-mail address, or contact MathWorks at http:/ / www.mathworks.com/ company/ aboutus/ contact_us/

If I activate a new account Matlab responds with the following error:

Error -2.004: The serial number that you have entered has already been activated with a different email address. Please verify that you are using the correct email address and serial number. If this error persists, contact your local support office at www.mathworks.com/ contact_us.
