Convert symbolic solution into real number?

syms ysol;

    POI_mat = solve( 'ab1(1)*ysol^2 + ab1(2)*ysol +ab1(3) = ab2(1)*ysol +ab2(2)' );

I would like to convert my solution within POI_mat into a real number so I can use it to compute a point of intersection. Right now it returns only symbolic solutions, how can I convert this?
