In the Fast wavelet transform documentation,it is said that fwt is based on Mallat's algorithm [Mal 89]....For my work i need Mallat's algorithme a trous....are they both same?....If no, is there any other command / information to implement this ?
Thanks in advance !!

Mallat's algorithm is multiresolution decomposition, which is not the same as the a trous algorithm. You can compare the two in this paper

It appears that the File Exchange Contribution http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/5104-toolbox-wavelets has the a trou wavelet.
