Disable Drag and Drop

Is there a way to disable drag and drop in:
1. The Matlab editor
2. The current folder window.
The risk of inadvertent changes are too high for me.
Thank you,
Regards,
Sandeep.

Do not press or release the mouse button randomly. Then drag&drop cannot do any harm. And if you could not avoid to drag any object without wanting it, press Ctrl-z to undo the changes.
The danger of dragging a cup of coffee and dropping it into the computer is a more frequent and more serious problem.
Please tell me, if I have overseen a constellation, in which drag&drop can do any harm in Matlab's editor. If this is the case, if would matter in all editors, browsers and programs, which allow user interactions with the mouse.

It has happen on several occasiions. When I navigate folders quickly with a mouse, sometomes a whole list of folders gets selected and copied to another location. While this does not itself cause loss of data, it messes up the folder system when it is under version control (external). Also, I always worry that I might also delete a bunch of folders inadverently.

I had similar problems, which have been caused by a weak mouse key, which lost the contact from time to time. The solution was not to disable drag&drop but to buy a working mouse.

No, not really. I've always had a decent mouse. This is an issue that has persisted over two different mice. Moreover, I don't have this problem, for example, in windows explorer, so it appears to be an issue with Matlab (or more likely Java).

I agree it's more of an issue in MATLAB than in Windows Explorer...one reason is that if you accidentally start a long move or copy operation in Explorer, a progress bar pops up that allows you to click "cancel." For Current Folder there appears to be no way to stop a file operation once it's in progress, which is the main issue for me. Also, I don't think there's an "undo" aside from restoring from the recycle bin, unless I'm mistaken.

Search "how to disable drag and drop in windows" and see the steps. I assume the same risk exists in other apps if it happens to you.

I think there is agreement that there are a number of ways this can happen, in various environments (such as Windows) but I have not seen any direct answer to the original question: "is there a way to disable drag and drop in the Matlab editor"
I would also like to disable drag and drop in the Matlab editor (which for me happens to be running under Unix).
Is this supported?
