Matlab suddenly crashes/exits with no error msg.

I have recently had a problem with Matlab suddenly exiting. I have not identified a spesific action that will make it close but here are two that i can remember:
- ctr-v , pasting something
- edit ***.c , creating a new .c file using edit command
Please note that i have not reproduced this enough to be sure that it is related.
Also after the crash, matlab will not start again unless i reboot the machine.
Me myself i have two theories :
1) Could it be related to Java? It seem to happen more when I get the "A new java version is avalable popup". (I often deny this update as I figure, meh ill update it later ),
2) I have had some mex related crashes due to memory etc. could there be a corrupt file somewhere?
Have anyone experienced something similar? (I use matlab 2013a on windows 7 ) Thx in Advance!

I guess you have a point there. Just wanted to see if this was a common issue. If it is worth anything to others I updated Java fully and rebooted. Have been working with matlab for 5-6 hours and havent had the problem since. So i think i will wait for the next Java update to pop to see if there is a correlation.
Thx though!
That used to happen to me on rare, random occasions with old versions. Sometimes it seemed to happen if I had a remote session open (like with WebEx, TeamCenter, Lync, VNC, AppShare, or similiar) though at other times it just happened at rare random times and was not reproducible. I'd just restart and it might be okay for days or weeks afterwards.
The only time I can get MATLAB R2014a in Windows 7 to crash reliably (if I can use that word) is if I leave MATLAB running and switch to a full screen game (which I think uses DirectX). Crashes MATLAB R2014a every time.

Hmm, good to know. Still no crashes since the update, so im guessing this was the issue.
Hi, I was having an identical issue... Uninstalled Java, reinstalled the "newest" version... haven't had a crash yet. Thanks!
Why that wiki page page is really long... i could not find what i am looking for ?

@Ahmad Jobran Al-Mahasneh The wiki admins seem like they change things sometimes. The link was supposed to bring you right to the relevant section : section 16.3:
If it didn't, then go to the top of the page and look in the contents and click on the link for section 16.3
Here it is:
After installation, MATLAB crashes or gives an error message when I try to run MATLAB.
The causes for crashes are many and complex, and complicated to figure out, especially if you don't have access to the source code. This is why it's best for The Mathworks to work on your crash issue. Asking other users in the Answers forum may provide an answer but the chances are slim. Your best bet is to call The Mathworks at (508)647-7000 and explain to them the circumstances for your crash. The Mathworks gives free support for all installation problems, even by telephone and even for Student, Home, or Trial versions. Note, this is just if MATLAB itself crashes, not if it's your m-file throwing an error (red text in the command window) or a DLL or mex file causing the crash.
