Matlab for aiding Wind Turbine Blade Design

Hi all,
Im completing a final year project on the Simulation of the wake from a Wind Turbine, I will be using a CAD program and Star ccm+. I would also very much like to utilize Matlab. I am only very new to Matlab, but I looking to learn as as possible about it over the summer months.
My question is, where should I start and how much could I viably hope to cover in a 3/4 month period, could I get as far as utilizing Simulink?
I know its probably a very broad question but its partly due to not being aware how much Matlab could potentially do for me.
Any feedback much appreciated,
Dec.

The combination of Simulink/SimMechanics/Stateflow could be a very powerful tool for this. I think there are some examples out there for this. I am not exactly sure how to introduce the external forces from the wind onto the turbine blades but I imagine that this would be possible. As for the learning curve, it will be steep, but I think rewarding. If you already have the design in CAD, then there is a lot of examples for SimMechanics to import those into Matlab/Simulink.
Good luck.
