Assigning excel data to an array via a counter

Folks,

Here is the code i use to assign data from the 2nd and 6th column in a spreadsheet to an array

for i=1:1:2

t(i)= data(:,5*(i-1)+1); %Time

      end

However, i get the following

??? In an assignment A(I) = B, the number of elements in B and I must be the same.

I want to have an array of 2 columns to do further calcs
