Extract obstacle edges from 2D Lidar measurements

Hello,
Is there a function that extract the vertices from 2D lidar readings. I mean if I have an obstacle which for example square and by using
scan = lidarScan(ranges, angles); I can get points (xi,yi) which represent the detected obstacle edges how can I get the vertices from this readings
