When an image is distorted, straight lines in the image appear to be curved. Image distortion is typically high in cameras with wide-angle lens such as fish-eye cameras. Therefore, set this property to "high" only if your camera has a wide-angle lens.

The calibrator app calls the detectCheckerboardPoints function to detect the checkerboard corner points. This distortion property setting is equivalent to setting the "HighDistortion" boolean Name-Value pair in the detectCheckerboardPoints function call.
