first time doing GUI

The question is that i need to give a function in the first box, so when i press plot the function is displayed in first axes, but it does seem like i defined something uncorrectly. can you please point out what should i do?

Okay, the user entered a function in the edit box. What do you do with the string you pull out of the edit box ?
