Does anyone have any experience for develping 1D/2D heat conduction code with multiple soil layers and ice-water phase change.

using finit difference method to solve this problem. How to solve the interface soil properties?

how to generate the mesh model for complex geometry?

@Lin Chen, Please refer to the PDE toolbox documntation to get started, including the section on geometry and mesh, which describes the built-in tools for mesh generation, and the heat transfer problem section. You will need to do some customization for heat generation and absorption due to phase changes.
