On the top of this page, click MathWorks.com, then in the upper right corner, click on My Account. Under Account Services click on Download Now under the R2014b banner image.

Not as long as your service contract is in force. And I think you automatically get a year when you buy for the first time so you get at least one upgrade for "free".

My pleasure!
My impression is that when you buy a license for a year, you’re entitled to both versions released in that year. So if you have a license for 2014, you get both versions, and if you also have the maintenance contract (I believe that comes with the Commercial personal license, I don’t know about the others), all upgrades as well.
Don’t delete 2014a! You can do things easily with 2014a that take extra effort — or may be impossible — with HG2 in 2014b.

I bought 2014a 27 september, and 2014b came in October, but when I click "Download now" as described above, I get a notice that I have no active license associated with this product. (b)
I'm assuming that the above solution counts for a home license as well? Or am I seriously out of luck? I could really use the upgrade, as OSX 10.10 breaks compatibility with 2014a.
Am I the only one with this? Or does anyone know a fix?

@Micah II — I suggest that you Contact Support for installation problems. All download and installation problems are supported, regardless of license type. There have also been particular problems with OS X 10 (I have Windows so know no details). You’ll likely need help with those as well.
