Cannot use 'interp' for FaceColor on an alphaShape object

I've succesfully created a alphaShape using the built in function. I want to use 'interp' in my FaceColor so that the color is blue on the bottom and yellow on top. The problem appears to be that the FaceVertexCData is empty and I have no idea how to fill it so that my object is nicely shaded from top to bottom. Any ideas?
