I have bought Mathematica Home edition and to my surprise it doesnt have a propper debugger !!The built in one is hard to use and it doesnt offer classical watch function found in modern debuggers :(
Dissapointed by this i am considering Matlab Home edition.
Are there known major issues with Matlab Home Edition ( i want Simulink, Control systems and Symbolic Toolboxes) , because i dont want to fall in the same trap

There is information on the site MATLAB Home, Access the power of MATLAB for your hobbies. (One limitation: Not all Toolboxes are available. See the site.)
Matlab offers a good environment for development of (hobby) applications. The debugging tools and the profiler are good. The editor is a bit limited.

This question is inappropriate for answers. At best, it will result in answers that are based on no more than personal preference. At worst, in flame wars.
The fact is, OF COURSE MATLAB is better! What do you expect to hear in a MATLAB site? That is, unless you happen to like Mathematica more.
Are there known issues that you may care about? OF COURSE there MIGHT be! But since we cannot know what you will care about, the answer is how can we know? How could we have known that you would consider what Mathematica has to offer inadequate, so how can we know what you will find inadequate with MATLAB?
You might consider asking this question on StackOverFlow, but there too it will probably be considered off-topic, as too likely to result in little of value for the flames it will raise.

Their strengths lie in different areas. Mathmatica is much better for symbolic math. Matlab is much better for specific math models, simulations, etc.
