Simulink Freezes when moving blocks

Hello,

Simulink for some reason freezes when I am trying to blocks around, it seems to happen when there are a lot of signals connection (something like 20+).

I do have a high end PC which should not factor in this issue.

Maybe it's something related to Java?

Can you post an example? With a lot of interconnections to a block, you will probably get better results reconnecting them manually anyway.

I'm seeing the same issue with 2021b Update 3, simple models, no custom blocks or libraries in the model, working on local storage.

I can't post code but I've just had it happen on a model with ~20 blocks. Something as simple as selecting and dragging a few blocks is enough to make this happen. It's quite random but often results in having to kill the MATLAB process and start over.

Does it still happen if you disable smart guides or hold down Alt key while dragging blocks? I know it could be a hassle but it could help to narrow down the issue.

Are you selecting multiple blocks and trying to move them together when MATLAB freezes? Does moving the blocks one at a time cause the same problems?

Any solution for this issue? It has been happening a lot to me lately using R2021b Update 4 (9.11.0.2022996)

My model has several connections and a very high number of signals (>400) and it blocks randomly even when I'm moving signals labels.

Similar behavior in 2022a Release 8. Deleted an input while moving sigals around and just hangs.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to kill this 'hang up' without having to start task manager and killing my entire matlab session.

Note:

matlab console stilff functions, but all open simulink models are unresponsive as is model explorer.

30 min of my day wasted, this is becoming an all to common occurence. I would say about a bi-weekly event.

I have been facing the same problem, in 2022b. Twice in three days recently. Every time it is a different thing after which it hangs, like editing the constant value of a block or reshaping a block or area.

Is there a MATLAB shortcut to stop the hang without killing the whole session? Ctrl+C doesnot work.

Have had the same issue in R2021b update 7 (9.11.2358333). Seems to happen when selecting multiple blocks and trying to move them. Simulink completely hangs, I can type stuff into the MATLAB terminal but any operation I try to run also hangs. I can navigate the toolbar ribbon and open different tabs, but the clicking the buttons doesn't do anything. The only option seems to be to kill MATLAB and restart. Very annoying. This issue has cost me many hours of rework since I can't save any unsaved changes once it hangs.
