Using a Neural Network schematic as a figure in an article

Hello,

We use MatLab to create ANN models which we use in our research. We want to publish our results and would like to illustrate the architecture of the ANN by using the MatLab generated diagram as a base image, on which to add explanations as captions.

Can we use the resulting figure in a published paper? We have, of course, acknowledged the use of MatLab for building the ANN in the body of the paper.
