Installing Matlab 2014B on Ubuntu

Alright so I don't really know where to to post this. But I can not for the life of me figure out how to even open the installer. I am following the installation guide and it says to just unzip and extract it and then to use ./install and then everything will work. When I use ./install it gives me an error saying there is no such file or directory.

I have been hearing a lot of problems with Ubuntu. Do not think you can get it to work. Also what version are you using? Ubuntu 14.04 has problems with Matlab 2014B.
