Hi,
Implementation of a complete FSO system involves many intricacies. A general high level overview of the entire process is as follows.
- Set up the FSO link: Define the parameters of the FSO link, such as the transmitter and receiver positions, transmit power, wavelength etc.
- Generate the RIS: Create the RIS by defining its size, position, and reflection coefficients.
- Calculate the channel gains: Use the geometrical optics approach to calculate the channel gains between the transmitter and the RIS, and between the RIS and the receiver. These gains depend on the distances, angles, and reflection coefficients.
- Simulate the gamma-gamma channel: Generate the gamma-gamma random variables to model the atmospheric turbulence-induced fading in the FSO link.
- Perform signal propagation: Simulate the signal propagation by applying the channel gains and the gamma-gamma fading to the transmitted signal. This involves multiplying the transmitted signal with the channel gains and the fading samples.
- Perform signal detection: At the receiver, apply the matched filter or maximum likelihood detection to estimate the transmitted symbols from the received signal.
Additonally, please refer to the Communication Toolbox if you have any specific questions pertaining to communication system modeling.
Thanks,
Vinayak
