Speed up launch of a MATLAB standalone executable

MATLAB standalone executables (i.e. "deployed" MATLAB code that has been compiled with the MATLAB compiler) can take a long time to launch. I am talking about the startup process before actual code execution starts. The startup process can sometimes take significantly longer than the execution of the actual "useful" code. Is there a way to speed up the startup?

Not without using MATLAB production server which keeps a bunch of deployed components in a hot state ready to service orders as they come in. This however, is another whole tool and approach that might not be at all what you want.
