plot two images over each other

Hi

I have two images that need them to be plotted over each other. Not the same as the one in the following that I plotted them side by side.

The outcom should look like this:

Probably one need to be transparent. But since the format of one of the files is uint8, I don't know how to do that. Any help is appreciated.
