Hello, I use particleswarm optimization with default options for 3 variables. I realized that the algorithm evaluates the function at a point (which lies at boundaries) several times. This didn't sound meaningful to me, is it normal or does it indicate a problem?

It has been about 10 hours and it did not converge yet. I realized this and wanted to ask

Did you try "conventional" optimizers first, e.g. "fmincon" ? Do they have problems with your case ?
Concerning your question: We don't know your problem and we don't know the solver you use. But even if we had this information: I think it's impossible to answer whether it's usual for the solver that the function is evaluated several times in some points. It would be inefficient, but who knows how the code works in detail ?
