Why parameter "Number of delays" of Block "Tapped delay" must be a double number.

Hello,
I want to know the reason that parameter "Number of delays" of Block "Tapped delay" must be a double number.

I don't know the reason. I am curious if that restriction is causing a problem.

I think the link you mentioned gives a solution to the problem, but I wonder why the limitation that "Number of Delays" must be double exists.
I will understand and accept it if specific reasons (e.g. For code generation or For simulation ) can be provided.

Based on my reading of Andy Bartlett's (Mathworks Staff) answer, this limit (data type must be double) is un-necessary and "not so friendly". That could be a polite way to say a software bug.
I've experienced the same error in other places in Simulink. I think the reason could be just due to legacy.
Andy indicated that he had entered an enhancement request internally. I would say that enhancement is to remove this limitation.
