Hello,
How can we model in simscape a system where output torque is a sum of 2 torque input sources. Please note that both input and output shafts are rotationing with same rotational speed to make the system simpler.
Example is 5 gear setup with 2 idler gears. 1st and 5th gear are inputs sources, 3rd is the output gear and 2nd & 4th are idler gears.
Thanks
Jacob

Hello Jacob,
I understand that you're trying to model a system in Simscape where the output torque is a sum of two torque input sources. For a setup that includes all shafts rotating at the same speed, such as a 5-gear configuration with 2 idler gears, here are several useful tips to consider-
First, utilize 'Simple Gear' blocks from the Simscape library to model all the gears. These blocks should be interconnected using rotational mechanical ports, representing the shafts. When connecting the gears, the 1st and 5th gears should be connected to their respective input shafts. The 2nd (idler) gear is to be linked between the 1st gear and the 3rd (output) gear, while the 4th (idler) gear connects the 5th gear to the 3rd (output) gear, ensuring mechanical connections through gears to accurately model your requirement.
Lastly, setting the gear ratios to indicate that all gears equally contribute to the output torque is crucial, bearing in mind that the idler gears only alter the direction of rotation and not the magnitude of the torque.
I hope this helps!

Hello Sachin,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately in a 'Simple Gear', there is only one input port and one output port. To carry out 5-gear configuration, you should have a gear which has 2 input ports and one output port at some point. This is why I have posted this question.

Hi Sachin

Can you generate the image of Simscape blocks for the following descriptions? This image will meaningfully helps the OP to learn from the graphics.
