App Designer has error in generated code

App designer places code (grayed out) that shows an error. I will note that the code ran fine before I saved and closed it out and then later restarted the app. I think the issue might be related to the fact that I had a callback that used the delete function which is used to close the app.

The line that show the syntax error is the following and bold in the full code listing:

I noted that I have a callback for the UI Figure CloseRequestFcn delete(gcf) which I am not able to delete. I see a lot of comments in the Matlab FAQs that talk about removing callbacks in the code browser, however this callback is shown in the Component Browser. When I highlight the UI figure it lists the figure properties and also callbacks, one of which is the CloseRequestFcn howver when I set it to noCallback it does not change. Any thoughts on how to change or remove this callback?

As to the question in your comment: why would you want to remove that callback? If you close the GUI window, something should happen. The least amount of something that can happen is nothing:

Thanks for the responses. To solve my probelm, I ported the code to a new app and correctly set up the CloseRequestFcn. I did this because I believe this is a glitch in the App Designer.

I simplified this issue and separated it from my application code above. I just opened a new blank app (i.e. just a window), ran it, saved it and exited Matlab. This is only Matlab generated code and no user code. When the app is opened again and I try to run it gives the same syntax error which I can't change.

What makes this frustrating is that the error does not occur until it saved, closed and reopened. Therefore a lot of work writing the app and then running into a dead end. I am running code on MacOS, R2034a (with updates) but not sure that makes a difference. Would like to see others have the same issue by trying the simple steps above.

Did you go to Component Browser > app.RawdataPlotterAppUIFigure > Callbacks > CloseRequestFcn > and type the name of a function? If so, what was the name of the function and what was its definition (i.e., what code was inside the function)? If some other method, please describe it.

Shubham, thanks for testing it on your end and now I am wondering if I have a setting somewhere that is causing an issue. Voss, I did not select or enter any app.RawdataPlotterAppUIFigure > Callbacks > CloseRequestFcn for this simplifed case. I just left it blank for the simplified case that Shubham tried. My next step will be to have a colleauge try the same thing in case I have a default setting set and unaware of in my setup. I will add a comment once I have someone try it and note the result. I will also take note of the steps to reproduce it if they can. Thanks for the help on trying to diagnose the issue.

Update: I asked several other colleagues to test the issue described above and it worked for them as expected. Therefore, I think that I have an issue with a default setting somewhere that loads the CloseRequestFcn if it is not explicting provided before saving.

In this case the syntax error is because the anonymous function is incorrect:

app.RawdataPlotterAppUIFigure.CloseRequestFcn = createCallbackFcn(app, @delete(gcf), true);

That should probably be:

@() delete(gcf)
