Simulink.Signal object as parameter in a masked subsystem

In https://de.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/358898-how-can-i-use-a-simulink-signal-object-as-a-parameter-in-a-masked-subsystem-in-r2017a a possible workaround for specifiying Simulink.Signal objects as mask parameter is provided. Although it can be specified that way, the next show-stopper appears "(...) returns a Simulink.Signal object that has property values that need to be evaluated. This object should be instantiated in a workspace and referenced by name in Simulink". I don't see any properties, which need to be evaluated. It it possible to have Simulink.Signal object in the scope of a masked subsystem only at all (as above solution indicates)? If so: How can this be achieved?

What do you want to do with the Simulink.Signal object in the Mask Workspace?
Thank you for providing the use case.
