how firnyquist function yields both Nyquist and equiripple LPF

In firnyquist help, it says:
b = firnyquist(n,l,r) designs an Nth order, Lth band, Nyquist FIR filter with a rolloff factor r and an equiripple characteristic.
I wonder how it can be both Nyquist and equiripple b/c equiripple algorithms (e.g. Parks-McClellan) have no constraints on being Nyquist.
