@Gabriel, the easiest and most reliable way is to deactivate MATLAB on your old laptop via Help → Licensing → Deactivate Software (or from your MathWorks account online), then download and install it fresh on the new machine from mathworks.com/downloads. Your license activation will move over, and you can manually copy your .m files or settings if needed. I would recommend to follow @Walter Robertson’s comments, he is absolutely right and this is exactly what I meant. Hope this helps.

If you have a Student or Home license or Dedicated Host license, then the easiest way is to Deactivate the license on the existing computer, then install on the new computer. Provided that you do not transfer licenses more than 4 times per calender year, the activation software will detect that the license is not currently activated and will activate it.
If you have any other kind of license, then the easiest way is to go ahead and install and activate on the new computer, and test to be sure it works, and then (at your leisure) deactivate on the old computer (if applicable.)
The other license types permit activation on at least two computers simultaneously; the Student and Home and Dedicated Host licenses are restricted to activation on one system at a time, according to the license conditions. (In practice, some people have been able to activate Student or Home licenses on a second computer... but other people have had no success doing so.)
